Dres was an MC of the first order, as clever as anyone in Quest but nimbler, and Mista Lawnge might be the most underrated producer of this era. Why were there only two Black Sheep albums in the Nineties? You know “The Choice Is Yours,” but there are a half dozen tracks that good. (Try to find the “No We Didn’t” remix of “Strobelite Honey,” still a peak of horn sampling and production.)
