Suede’s 21st century return hit a remarkable new highpoint with 2022’s Autofiction, with the return of longtime producer Ed Buller matching a fierce collection of tunes and some of Brett Anderson’s best vocals yet, with the opening track and single “She Still Leads Me On” a crackling pulse of a song. The songwriting partnerships Anderson had developed with both Richard Oakes and Neil Codling over their reunion here soar throughout; songs like “15 Again,” “That Boy On The Stage” and “Shadow Self” have both sweep and edge in equal measure.
