Thoroughly versed in the low-budget, low-fidelity cult occult movies that proliferated in the 60s and 70s, Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats sound like Black Sabbath if that band had actually gone across the street to the movie theater and watched Mario Bava’s Black Sabbath. Their sophomore splatter platter documents a band dissolving (only Uncle Acid, A.K.A. Kevin Starrs, would remain after this release) but their death throes conjured acid-drenched classics like “Cut You Down” and “13 Candles” into their magick circle.
