Bug cover

It’s just under 39 minutes long, but in that time Bug manages to cram in so much. It begins with the perfect pop structure “Freak Scene” and ends with the guitar meltdown of the second half of “Keep the Glove.” In between you can hear tropes from the most classic of classic rock — from Crosby, Stills & Nash to Black Sabbath — delivered with punk insouciance and songwriting that more commercial acts would kill for. There are untold guitar solos that will make your heart sing and melodies that will stay with you for ever. It almost single handedly created grunge, but was never bettered by anything in the era it ushered in. An astounding record, deservedly held up by critics as a classic, but even more astoundingly it was just one part among an endless flow of equally great Dinosaur magic across decades.
