Buzzle Bee

Released

Their first after unshackling themselves from the major label experience, Buzzle Bee felt like a gentle disarmament. It’s more obviously experimental than their previous few albums, and feels subtler, as though The High Llamas, and key songwriter Sean O’Hagan, are reconsidering their approach to writing and arranging. There’s a Llamas classic here – the West Coast sunshine pop of “Get Into the Galley Shop” – some slow, waltz-like instrumentals, some fascinating cut-ups, and some Steve Reichian minimalist hypnotism. It’s often overlooked, but Buzzle Bee is key to The High Llamas’ story.
