Chorus

Released

The remarkable run of Erasure just kept continuing with Chorus, managing the notable trick of being their most ‘adult’ album yet without being a boring one at all. Said maturity could be heard not merely in the intriguing, often exploratory tone of Vince Clarke’s arrangements but how on the title track Andy Bell beautifully sings a pro-environmental lyric that’s evocative rather than dull and preachy. There’s plenty of fun throughout the album too, as the sublimely bitchy “Love To Hate You” shows, while the album ender “Home” is one of their loveliest lower-key songs.
