Corpo Sem Juízo

Released

Released in 2020, Jup do Bairro’s debut Corpo Sem Juízo is a raw exploration of identity, survival, and transformation. Crafted with the sharp production of Colombian DJ and producer Badsista and featuring collaborations with Deize TigronaLinn da Quebrada, Rico Dalasam, and Mulambo, the EP is fierce yet vibrant and joyfully alive, celebrating the resilience and self-expression from the periphery of São Paulo. Blending bass-heavy club beats, pop, and Jup’s theatrical, often spoken delivery, Corpo Sem Juízo is full of contrasts, shifting from melodic and danceable to intense and cutting. On “o que pode um corpo sem juízo?” Jup delivers a calm but powerful sermon, challenging societal judgments, embracing a body that transgresses and redefines norms. On “Transgressão” she likens her journey to a caterpillar undergoing metamorphosis, set against a dreamy synth backdrop, while tracks like “Luta Por Mim” and “O Corre” stand as powerful declarations against systemic oppression. In just six tracks, Jup sketches a vivid portrait of selfhood and communities on the edge, defiantly taking up space on dancefloors and streets everywhere.
