Crossing

Released

While many of Oregon’s classics were released on Vanguard, the roving band made three significant voyages on ECM waters, of which Crossing was the second. The music is what fans of the group would expect: an organic mixture of the earthen and the skyward. Setting it apart are the interactions of its musicianship. Paul McCandless’s oboe, Glen Moore’s bass, Ralph Towner’s guitar, and Collin Walcott’s percussion are just the corona of a sun that shines upon many instruments besides, but each choice feels right as rain. The hermetic paths of “Alpenbridge” alone make the journey worth it.
