It calls itself an EP but this self released collection is an album in all but name. And it’s possibly the best statement of Londoner Leon Smart aka Scratcha DVA aka Scratchclart aka DVA [hi:emotions] etc etc at his banging best. This is him adopting the dark, oppressive sound of South African gqom and fusing it with grime, dancehall and other UK underground sounds with absolute laser focus on demolishing dancefloors. With the very best British MCs (Trim, Merky Ace, Mez) dropping in to add a little extra spice and a tripped out dark ambient soul ballad to round things off, it’s brutally functional stuff and all the better for it.
