It’s not a particularly well known album but this 1979 studio project from disco dream team Leroy Burgess, Patrick Adams and arranger/guitarist Stan Lucas project is a wonderfully warm and sparkling collection of disco that’s well worth seeking out. Tracks like “You Dazzle Me” and “Walk Before You Run” are like the disco tracks you always wanted but didn’t know existed: quality songs with velcro-hooks, soaring vocals, and rock solid super-focused rhythm sections. It’s disco to be proud of, with not a wasted moment, not a single ghost note out of place, every part of the process carried out with the highest level of attention, professionalism, and authenticity, and a very long way indeed from the bulk of contemporaneous commercial disco. One of the genre’s finest moments.
