Drumming Up Trouble

Alvin Curran, free and unfettered music don, member of Musica Elettronica Viva, has been messing about since the Eighties with drum machines and electronically controlled drum sounds. At age 84, my guy is bringing fire off the bench and golden mud from the archive. “Field It More” is a mindblower from the Eighties, a tape-and-tacks computadora funkbox beat under a deglazed slurry of cronchy answering machine tapes and synth crud. The other four more recent tracks are like a grime buddy demobbed and sent into a public school to teach the history of UK dance in ten minutes. Actually open-minded machine music.
