Death metal usually tackles more esoteric evils, covering serial killers and Cthonian horrors extensively. Yet, current events provide equally grisly fodder – just look at Sepultura and Cattle Decapitation’s extensive anthologies of societal shittiness. Terminal Nation join those august chroniclers of the human condition. Unexpectedly so. It’s surprising to hear such knuckle-dragging blunt objectors tackling topics like cruelty to the unhoused, police brutality, and environmental devastation. Such repugnant subject matter fits such unpleasant music perfectly. “No Reform (New Age Slave Patrol)” leads the pack, but every pit-ready missive drives its message home like a barrage from a firing squad.
