The first solo album by Bauhaus/Love and Rockets bassist David J was recorded as the former band was starting to fall apart for the first time in 1983. Described later by him as his ‘secret garden,’ it showcases his knack for wry understatement and contemplation as well as dark humor, not totally removed from his accidentally goth roots but in its own vein. A macabre standout: “Joe Orton’s Wedding,” his interpretation of the vicious murder/suicide that ended the playwright’s life.
