Father, Son, Holy Ghost

Released

The marvel of Girls is that Christopher Owen and JR White were somehow able to channel completely unrelated sounds, like My Bloody Valentine, Blondie, and late Fifties doo-wop, into one woozy organic whole. This is the band’s heaviest record, and their last, less winsome than their other work, and full of swirling wah and fuzz that suits them beautifully. There should have been much more of this, the wilder and more detailed version of Girls. It also sounds like Wilco? A rewarding thing full of Easter eggs.
