Milton Wright’s pristine 1975 production Friends and Buddies is an unappreciated gem in the soul and R’n’B pantheon. Wright forged an original and idiosyncratic sound that merged his jazzy vocal delivery with disco-tinged soul and funk which was often peppered with Moog synthesisers, giving the project something of a futurist feel. Stand out track ‘Keep It Up’ is an early electronic-funk classic which was highly sought after by collectors for years. A leftfield and innovative soul album.
