The burly saxophonist’s The Epic shook the jazz world, but his second opus is where he proves that he’s here to stay. Adding squiggly prog-rock synths and nods to Seventies funk (via a cover of a Bruce Lee movie theme,) Heaven and Earth retains the sweeping romanticism and lush string and choral arrangements that are as much his trademark as his raucous, soul jazz-meets-free jazz horn solos.
