Hildegard Von Bingen: Heavenly Revelations cover

Hildegard Von Bingen: Heavenly Revelations

Released

Hildegard of Bingen’s music builds on the tradition of Gregorian chant but takes it in a more extravagant direction, befitting the mystical content of her songs. The songs are full of vivid, sensual imagery, and the music is correspondingly lavish – the voices trace across huge ranges, and the songs are packed with notes in ways that traditional chant is not. Among the many diverging reconstructions of her music available, this performance is satisfyingly clear.
