I Had It All the Time

Produced by Chicago soul legend Willie Henderson, the euphoric opening track ‘Your Love Keeps Haunting Me’ is a great example of the sophisticated Chicago soul sound: clever intricate orchestration, sweeping strings, sweet harmonies and a rock-solid rhythm section. Davis is not as well known as his peers but possessed a golden-velvet baritone, showcased wonderfully by this album. With jubilant bittersweet soaring classics like ‘Come and Get This Ring’ and ‘Was It Just A Feeling’ along with epic ballads like ‘Was I Just A Fool’, ‘I Had It All The Time’ is an under-rated sophisto-soul classic.
