Immigrant

Released

After the harrowing howls and extremities of Promise it probably wasn’t a surprise that Gene Loves

Jezebel stepped back a bit from the brink on their second album, but what was a real delight is how Immigrant found a good balance between their distinct approach and a warmer, catchier rip through post-punk guitar heroics. The opening “Always a Flame” sets the tone brilliantly, all careening stomp and swagger, while the rolling stomp of the title track, the at-times near quirky “Worth Waiting For,” the dreamy end track “Coal Porter” and the building intensity and release of “Cow” are all treats.
