In Search of Black Judas

Released

As bass player for Bad Brains, Daryl Jenifer was responsible both for delivering sonic foundation for their high-speed hardcore punk tunes and creating the dark, loping bass lines that held down their dubbiest roots reggae numbers. On his solo album he shows off the full range of his talent and creativity, delivering heavy punk-metal, experimental Nyabinghi excursions, and dubbed-up reggae instrumentals with healthy doses of found-sound spoken word passages. It doesn’t sound like the Brains, but it definitely sounds like a solo album one of the Brains would make.
