Kelly Lee Owens’ second album was another high-class techno/techno-adjacent effort that comfortably veered toward electro-pop too. Opening track Arpeggi showcases one of KLO’s particular skills, the ability to produce big-sounding tracks from fairly minimal ingredients, in this case not much more than a synth arpeggio, a bass tone and a drum pattern. This contrasts perfectly with the fully-realised dream pop of On, where she multi-tracks her voice into a soaring, spiralling celestial chorus melody. The brooding, moody, Re-Wild is also in electro-pop territory, as is the bubbling bass and overarching pads of L.I.N.E., her beatific vocal melody set in a sumptuous audio duvet of pads and chimes. Elsewhere there are club-friendly grooves including the stalking, electro-breaks Flow, Jeanette’s fast-paced kick drum and slamming synth riff combo and diamond-hard 3 am dance floor rinser Melt!. Recommended!
