Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D’Arby

Released

1987 held no shortage of Prince wannabees: Georgio, Ready for the World, etc. Despite being a young black man with the occasional guitar in his hands, the raspy voiced, London-based American expat Terence Trent D’Arby was more than that from the beginning. “Sign Your Name,” “If You Let Me Stay” and “Wishing Well” were just the tip of the iceberg of this album TTD claimed was better than Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. His following two records deserved the same success; this one got all of it.
