Lazer Guided Melodies

Released

Following a string of singles and EPs that helped establish and clarify the Spiritualized sound as such — obviously derived from Spacemen 3 but aiming for a kind of sweep and punch that wasn’t in the earlier band’s work — Jason Pierce led the first of many lineups of the band into a lovely full length debut. Lazer Guided Melodies blended psychedelic haze, carefully precise arrangements and the sense of many different kinds of trips on striking songs like “Angel Sigh,” “Step Into the Breeze,” “Take Your Time” and the gentle musical/lyrical pun of “200 Bars.”
