I do not know if La Roche from the Democratic Republic of Congo is one, two, or ten people, but this beat tape is a blast. The tonalities speak to Congolese hammered and struck metal instruments and the crumpled clave beats and vocals summon about ten different genres. La Roche threads a delicacy through all the strikes and bumps that keeps me listening to this truly melodic daisy chain of rhythms.
