Luminessence

Released

Luminessence is a challenging and fascinating look into Keith Jarrett as a composer. As such, it lays bare the pianist’s process with unabashed honesty. Its tripartite program features the strings of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart and saxophonist Jan Garbarek, who is given freedom within constraints to take his inspirations wherever they may lead. “Numinor” and “Windsong” are both cinematically visual, while the title work takes a more romantic approach. Despite its light-bearing title, the album is decidedly nocturnal. Such contrasts are its strength, torn from a book of life and written anew.
