Mewn Dyb (In Dub) cover

Mewn Dyb (In Dub)

Released

This album came out of nowhere in the mid-1990s. At first listen it might seem like a straightforward instrumental dub reggae album, but a look at the cover makes clear that it’s something different. The band is from Wales, the song titles are in Welsh, and the cover photo features riot police beating protesters. (In the band photo they’re all wearing cowboy outfits, and I don’t know what to make of that.) How’s the music? Fantastic. Heavyweight roots reggae, dubbed up crazily, with occasional snatches of Welsh vocals.
