Mozart: Clarinet Concerto cover
Released

Mozart didn’t write much music for the clarinet, but what he did write was exquisite. The instrument’s round, plaintive tone and Mozart’s knack for heart-tugging melody were perfectly matched, leaving us to wonder why he didn’t produce more. On this album the great German clarinetist Sabine Meyer (accompanied by the Staatskapelle Dresden) gives a magnificent account of Mozart’s concertos for one and two clarinets and of his Sinfonia Concertante for winds and orchestra.
