N’Djila Wa Mudjimu
Released
The backstory behind the band featured here is deeply involved – the act named Fulu Miziki formed by Pisko Crane in 2003 in Kinshasa has since produced three separate spinoffs and incarnations – but this version of the band as recorded in 2020 produced one of 2022’s best albums. A seemingly effortless fusion of live percussion-driven instrumentation and electronic underpinnings – at points the bass will cause even small speakers to throb – N’Djila Wa Mudujimu simply explodes with energy on songs like “Sebe,” “Mutangila” and “Tikanga.”
