Kyle Carey’s second full-length album finds her continuing to explore the overlaps and boundaries between American and Gaelic folk music. Featuring mostly original songs, it also finds her in the studio with the brilliant multi-instrumentalist and producer Seamus Egan, who records her closely and intimately and creates a warm, detailed sound that sets her songs and her lovely voice off to perfect effect. And hey, that’s Dirk Powell on banjo. Excellent.
