Nymph

Released

fka Twigs has been trying to make this record for ten years, so I am glad Shygirl finally did it. Bass, fluidity, dementia, runway style, and more bass.

Sasha Frere-Jones

Following a string of singles and EPs for some years that built up an international reputation as a playful, hooky and fierce artist in equal measure in the realm of hyperpop, including a nod from genre lodestone SOPHIE, London’s Shygirl released her first full-length, Nymph, in late 2022. Touching on everything from lush modern r’n’b dedicated to self-love with “Coochie (A Bedtime Story)” to frenetic electronic melodicism on “Firefly” to other examples of experimentation in arrangements crossed with subtly warm performances, it’s a delight.
