This trio tackles the American late Nineties, in their way, and updates the instrumental format of whatever was called post-rock and post-hardcore. Drummer Valentina Magaletti keeps a tense and woody time while Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead work in bass and guitar and noises and vocal samples on top of it. It’s a bit like a long Fugazi breakdown matched up with the voices you’d hear in a Godspeed You! Black Emperor track, or maybe a Dianogah song stretched out and flattened a bit. They pair nicely with Japanese trio Kukangendai, if you want to stock up a new moment drawing on older moments. Tense and icy and spicy.
