Echoing from either some mythical cave or over the PA of a community swimming pool, the words “try…try…try…try.” The stomping and clapping looping over lyrics of encouragement, to stop acting cool, and acknowledging your limits while realizing how rarely they exist. Noah Lennox’s third solo album as Panda Bear is as exhilarating as its opening notes, built from samples, worn down and stretched out. “Take Pills” and “Bros” are 60s beach parties through a half-remembered prism from someone else’s past, whereas the words of comfort of “Search For Delicious” are buried under warped tape loops and ambient hums. A dive into lovely oblivion.
