Poor John Rutsey, forever consigned to the rock trivia bins. His one rotation behind one of the most legendary kits in classic rock finds him busting his best Bonham moves, but with a successor so peerless he didn’t stand a chance. Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee’s instruments already have their trademark tone (and the latter his inimitable screech). Otherwise, this is their most Led-en effort, power trio heavy blues that’s a blast to play while driving but otherwise forgettable. There is one obvious exception, and that’s the tune that became a set list staple – the middle class mind melter “Working Man,” which served as a harbinger of time signature tomfoolery to come.
