Andsnes has the perfect touch for these solo piano works by Sibelius. His gestures are high Romantic but his moods and pacing have a nice Modernist freeze to them, and a good Sibelian knows where the music needs to spin past like branches beneath a carriage and when the chords need to fall like slate paving stones.
