After a fruitful ten years with the American Irish folk band Scartaglen, singer Connie Dover broke out on her own with this delicately gorgeous solo debut. There are some very familiar tunes here — “Jack of Diamonds,” “Lough Erne’s Shore,” even “Shenandoah” for crying out loud — but her voice is so lovely and the subtlety of her interpretations so impressive that you don’t mind at all hearing them again.
