Standers

Craven Faults’s 2023 album Standers continues in the vein of the anonymous artist’s earlier approach, with modular synthesizers driving an aesthetic balancing technology with the feeling of a shadowy past in their native Yorkshire. Opening track title “Hurrocstanes,” a variant spelling of an older place name, helps set that mood clearly along with its mesmerizing layering of tones and loops. Other strong numbers include the moody pulse of “Meers & Hushes,” the serene glow of “Sun Vein Strings” and the building intensity of “Odda Delf” as a fine overall closer.
