Station to Station

Released

Having scored a remarkable American breakthrough with Young Americans and “Fame” some might have guessed he’d simply stick to that approach, but David Bowie’s work on The Man To Fell To Earth — and, he freely admitted, his self-inflicted cocaine traumas — led to a new persona in the Thin White Duke, and a new album to go with it. Station to Station ranges from the cold European art-funk of the title track to heartfelt emotion in “Word on a Wing” and his cover of “Wild is the Wind,” and in the dark grooves of “Golden Years” he scored another massive hit.
