Tales from Turnpike House

Released

Following a general easing back into working with more overt electronic sounds on Finisterre, Saint Etienne fully embraced a new kaleidoscopic fusion of pop approaches past and present on 2005’s Tales From Turnpike House, a concept album of sorts imagining the lives of characters living in a suburban London location. Combining their ear for peppy dance approaches and a feeling of suffused melancholy and slightly lost dreams, the band further demonstrate their range with guests ranging from the then-white-hot Xenomania production team to 70s rocker David Essex.
