Thank You

Released

Thank You was the first salvo in Royal Trux’s three-album deal with Virgin, one of the more improbable major label hook-ups in the post-grunge alternative rock boom. Newly funded and free to do what they pleased, the Trux called in Neil Young producer David Briggs, who got the group to run through the album’s songs as if they were a live set, before spending months mixing Thank You. It all resulted in an album that has a spectacular kinetic energy, with the gristly sinews of the songs still showing. They amplified the implicit boogie and garage rock elements of previous album Cats and Dogs, fed through a Glimmer Twins production sheen, knocking out a few Trux classics along the way – “Map Of The City” and “(Have You Met) Horror James?”, the latter with lyrics from the late David Berman, are particularly choice, high-wire performances.
