Much like their Texan spirit animals Khruangbin, Maasricht-based collective Yin Yin fashioned South-East Asian music into a potent strain of groove-driven psych rock. While it leant heavily on the region’s traditional instrumentation, their entirely instrumental 2020 debut threw its net far and wide, pulling in Krautrock, desert-parched African blues, 60s psychedelia and on closing track Dis Ko Dis Ko, the robotic throb of Giorgio Moroder, finding the common thread in an entire history of music.
