The Undertones

Released

A giddy romp of a debut effort, the Undertones’s self-titled album built on the sudden breakout success of the deathless “Teenage Kicks” to offer up a slew of instant pop/punk classics, as perfect a distillation of the Ramones’ call to sonic arms as could be wished for. Songs like “Family Entertainment” merrily demonstrated the quintet’s roots in rollicking glam as well, while the sheer rush of numbers like “Jimmy Jimmy” and “Here Comes the Summer” are still being cloned to the present day.
