KMRU described his late 2022 album as “an exercise in feeling effortless,” and for all that the title Epoch has the sense of something monumental, the nine-song collection lives up to the description, something that has the sense of centered grace and float. Embracing lighter sounding drones and subtle microtonal changes on some songs, as on “guise” and “in new fields,” and on others gentle cycling melodies that are pure bliss, as with the perfectly titled “mood” and “luminous beings,” throughout KMRU creates a space of playful serene joy.
