Et hån mot overklassen

Released

I like this, from the band’s Bandcamp page: “Twangy blues jam meets musique concrete and soaring gothic soundscapes in cult trio’s transgressive mockery of the upper class.” I am glad these things matter to them, because they do to me, but I don’t hear a lot of musique concrete or mockery, and as it’s an instrumental trio, I’m not sure how I would hear the latter. But Bushman’s Revenge (a bad band name, slightly softened by the fact that it’s the name of a hot sauce in Norway) is a sleeper act on the Norwegian Rune Grammofon label, a three piece with an amazing way of keeping the ball aloft. There are bits of Terje Rypdal’s ECM stuff here, or Metheny’s Bright Size Life, or the Power Tools album with Melvin Gibbs, Bill Frisell, and Shannon Jackson. These three keep things remarkably alive and varied, and prove to be excellent company. Seek them out. This album is a monster.
