This 4CD set contains key early recordings by the British band Seefeel — vocalist/guitarist Sarah Peacock, guitarist Mark Clifford, bassist Daren Seymour, and drummer Justin Fletcher. After releasing the More Like Space EP and Quique LP on Too Pure, Seefeel signed to Warp Records and put out two albums, Succour and (Ch-Vox), and two EPs, Starethrough and Fracture/Tied, all of which are included here along with nearly two hours of previously unreleased material. Seefeel’s music sounds like remixes of itself; guitars, bass, drums and voice are occasionally audible, but they only seem to bubble up for a moment before vanishing into a fog of electronic atmosphere and repetitive droning patterns. Ambient dub and other “post-rock” sounds are the dominant stylistic touchpoints here; Seefeel occupied an odd niche all their own, somewhere at the nexus of Main, Aphex Twin, Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine at their most languorous and placid. Their style was self-contained and confident enough that the bonus material is very similar to what was initially released, but welcome nonetheless.
