Siouxsie and Budgie followed up their initial toe in the water via the Wild Things EP as the Creatures with an interesting twist: allegedly placing a pin on a world map to decide where to record next, they conveniently landed on Hawaii, as opposed to the open ocean. Whatever happened, Feast was an enjoyable result, positioned somewhere between an exploration of Hawaiian traditional music, exotica in a Martin Denny sense and the duo’s own combination of percussive exploration and lyrical intensity and playfulness, perhaps best captured on the striking single “Miss the Girl.”
