Goin’ Off

Released

This joyous debut statement is the first full length attempt to capture within the grooves of an album the intense charisma of Biz Markie. At this point in his career Biz was still an active member of the legendary Juice Crew, and as such the creative direction here is supplied by Marley Marl, who produced the bright, funhouse style tracks with big nods to familiar samples, and Big Daddy Kane, who penned some of the raps. Even this early in his career, Biz was out to prove doubters wrong, and “Vapors,” about overcoming his modest beginnings to become a hip-hop legend, is one of his defining songs.
