Super Furry Animals kept on keeping on in striking fashion with Guerrilla, with Pete Fowler’s design work starting with Radiator now a firmly established extra element that helped shape the internal logic of SFA for a wider audience: unusual, smile-inducing, cartoonish and absolutely the work of skilled artists who know exactly what they’re doing. Their most self-consciously pop album yet, it still sounded like nothing else at all, with singles such as “Northern Lites,” “Fire in My Heart” and “Do or Die” all hinting at the varied delights the whole album offered for the curious.
