Happy Days

Released

On Catherine Wheel’s third album, the UK group continued working with producer Gil Norton but in a way created their most American-sounding album yet; Happy Days had them exchanging stirring shoegaze leanings for the rougher, more aggro side of US alternative’s success in the early to mid- 90s, as evidenced on songs like “Waydown” and “Little Muscle.” The end result was still very enjoyable, including a lovely guest vocal from Tanya Donelly on “Judy Staring At The Sun” and a wry musical joke in calling the album’s longest, mellowest track “Eat My Dust You Insensitive Fuck.”
