Using Amazon’s text-to-speech cloud service, Polly, Matsumoto created a short series of monologues and then one long suite dedicated to Italian anatomist Filippo Pacini. The text touches on panic attacks and vaccine apartheid and feels like a piece of pandemic art that actually thought itself through. The chorale is huge and the details are tiny and tender—this is what happens when whatever electronic music is now forgets that it’s electronic.
