Suede’s second album in their reunion phase showed that they still had it in them to try something surprising: having contributed an occasional soundtrack song in the past, 2016’s Night Thoughts was a combined album and accompanying film by UK photographer/video director Roger Sargent. In strictly musical terms Night Thoughts aims for stateliness with orchestrations adding to songs like “When You Are Young” and “Tightrope.” The stirring rise of “Outsiders” and the ballads “Pale Snow” and “The Fur & The Feathers” are other standouts.
